Maybe you haven't heard about Winky Lux, but I know you have heard of mood rings. Wait, what does that have to do with this? I have a point, I swear. Winky Lux went viral with their Flower Lip Balms that are just what they sound like- a Lip Balm with a flower imbedded inside. What is so exciting is that they are like mood rings for your lips! They contain a type of Red Dye that reacts to PH which makes it change to your perfect shade of pink. Like, why has this not existed until recently? WHY?! Step up your game all other makeup brands!
Anyway, when I say I love Winky Lux, I mean in every literal sense that I LOVE Winky Lux. Their branding, packaging, products, people, just everything about them is fun and vibrant and sophisticated. They have a niche market, which I think is brilliant: young, on-trend millenials and Gen X'ers who probably identify themselves as Unicorns. Everything about their branding speaks to younger generations, from the drug-store prices to being cruelty-free. Broke as a joke gals, HOORAH. And, vegans, UNITE!
I was lucky enough to score a sales position with the brand for a trend show at a Nordstrom near me. That's how I got in contact with Sandra, who is AMAZING, and she was sweet enough to send me their products. Of course, the products arrived in the cutest pink box. Naturally. Also, one last note. If you guys think Too Faced is the only brand with scented eyeshadows, you're in furr a nice surprise! Meow!
These are my FAVORITES, in no particular order...

1. Double Matte Whip Liquid Lipstick- If you love liquid lipsticks, you will LOVE these. The formulation is drying, like most liquid lipsticks, but the color payoff and stamina of these baddies is worth it. I received the color Angel Food, the perfect peachy nude, and had the shade Cookie, my go-to brown nude. Pro tip- Scrub your lips and apply a generous layer of lip balm before applying.

2. Diamond Powder- This hydrating powder gets its name from what it made out of! Yes, this actually has crushed up diamonds in the formula which is what gives it it's hydrating properties! Mind blown? Mine, too. And, I tend to loath compact powders because they end up making my liquid makeup separate, or settle onto every pore and crevice, but I'M NOT EXAGGERATING when I say this powder is the shit. It leaves your face looking like a smooth, poreless canvas.

3. Peeper Concealer- Full coverage? Check. That's pretty much all I need to be sold on a concealer (I'm not SUPER picky), but this one is nice because I've discovered it works really nicely as a base for eyeshadow and to carve out those fleeky brows. So, this formula is a little thick, therefore a bit goes a long way. It blends out to a nice satin finish, but paired with a good baking powder it transforms your skin into what every drag queens dreams of. The result, the smoothest your skin has looked. Ever. I’ve even got my mom hooked and she hates makeup.

4. Matte Lip Velour- Ok, just the price and frilly packaging was enough to sell me. The pigment packed into each of these little lip pills is shocking. One swipe and you're good to go. No patchiness, no drying, no feathering, no fail. Buy these now! You will not regret it.

5. Coffee Eyeshadow Palette- Espresso, Latte, Frappe, PSL, one-shot, two-shots, four-shots. If you can relate to any of those, imagine if I said that smell that wakes you up every morning now can be on your face. WHAT? This Coffee Eyeshadow palette is NO joke, guys. NO joke. It blends like a freaking dream, has good pigment and SMELLS like a cup of Joe. Sold yet? I had myself at Espresso... Tell me your favorite Starbucks drink below! This is the latest eyeshadow palette which is apart of their new coffee collection that includes Lip Pills and bronzers. (Official Launch date is March 1st, 2018)

7. Creamie Dreamies- The name says it all. These lippies feel like a literal dream, just on your lips. While they aren't opaque coverage like their matte sisters, they still have good coverage for a satin finish lipstick. I personally wear Au Lait over all of my nude matte lipsticks for hydration and a bit of a glossy texture. These are a no brainer buy.

8. Glimmer Balm/Flower Balms- These Flower Balms are what got Winky Lux on the social media map. Think of mood rings for your lips. These contain a type of Red dye in them that is known to change with the PH of whatever it touches. The color will not look the exact same on everyone, but it will generally turn your lips more pinky. They are really moisturizing and work perfectly under or over your favorite matte lipsticks, too!

9. Latte Bronzer- Ok, so Winky Lux pulled a Too Face with their newest Coffee Collection and made a scented bronzer! But, what I love, aside from being able to make my face smell like my vice, is that this is so buildable and not too warm and not too cool. You no longer have to worry about having a streak of orange across your cheeks. Just swirl, tap and buff and you have that glow from within bronzed glow!
These are the products that I did not find myself using quite often...

1. Strobe Highlight Balm- Ok, so here's my thing about the strobing balm... I actually love it. It gives such a beautiful glossy texture that you see in all the magazines. But, that's just it. In real life it's not super practical unless you like the greasy look, which is a thing, so if that is you, do you, boo. In pictures, it photographs amazingly. I use the shades Lit and Radiant Pink on so many clients who are going for that natural, dewy look because I know that this stuff epitomizes that in photographs. So, i'm not saying this is a bad product because it's not. It's just a niche product so if you are a MUA or photographer, you need this in your lyfe!
2. UniBrow- The ONLY reason this did not make it in the first list is because of the color. It is far too ashy and dark for my pale-ass complexion. Otherwise, I do like the waxy consistency and the triangular shape of the pencil. It gives good coverage and allows you to outline your brows with the thinest edge and fill-in with the thicker edge. I DO still use this on clients because it works on my tan and darker skinned girls.

3. Steal My Heart Lipstick Pills- These smell like nostalgia. That sweet, candy aroma takes me back to Valentines Day at school, where the dye from Air Heads and Starburst would stain my lips. I think that was the concept behind these cute heart-shaped lipsticks. Unfortunately, these are not for me- the girl who bathes herself in vibrant color. If you love that washed-out, hint of color look, these would be perfect for you. They feel like a lip balm and have a satin consistency. I will say that I use these under my lips before I apply any matte lip because they are creamy and hydrating!
Winky Lux is luxurious, affordable, and so modern! If you don't own anything by them, you are seriously missing out.
XOXO,
